The sample is drawn using a multiple-stage stratified sampling design. Townships are grouped to form a stratum, based on similar geographical location or culture. In the first stage, a random sample of townships is selected in each stratum. In the second stage, a random sample of schools are selected in the sampled townships. In the third stage, students are selected using systematic sampling.
